Ego. The dictionary defines the word ego as “a person’s sense of self-esteem or self-importance.” We all have egos. The issue is when we let our ego get in the way of our blessings, success and meaningful relationships in our life. I have a strong personality. It is what it is. However, over time as I have matured I’ve learned to stop my ego from subtracting valuable people and experiences from my life. It is ok to know you are right—-and to not worry about another person realizing you are right on that issue.
Everyone around you won’t be able to let go of their ego. There’s so many people you will encounter with Kanye “big egos” and you can’t let it or them get you off beat. People often cling to it because without it; they are too vulnerable. We live in a world where no one wants to be vulnerable. It’s seen as a sign of weakness. So instead we operate with our ego in the forefront. No matter the costs or results…
I’ve learned a lot since I learned to let my ego go. I’m slowly learning to enjoy being weak sometimes. Try it out in some of your own situations or relationships. It will allow you to see things from a different point of view. After all—the individuals close to us are all unique and they are who they are as a result of their life experiences. So the lens that they see life through won’t necessarily be the same as the one you are looking through. And that is perfectly ok.
