Nneoma Okorie Talks Beauty, Comedy and Her Journey Online

We caught up with social influencer Nneoma Okorie to learn more about her foray into the online media space. Nneoma has a presence on both instagram and youtube. She shares comedy videos as well as beauty tutorials. I love the way she incorporates African textile aesthetic into her fashion. Like many online girls of the new generation she knows how to change up her hair and beauty regime. Her creativity and various hairstyles are inspiring—especially for those such as myself who tend to stick with one look. From various colors, lengths and textures; her hairstyles span whatever trends everyone is itching to try.  Nneoma shares how her journey online has both changed her life and given her a visible platform to express herself creatively. Her interview is a great read for anyone looking to make their beginning mark online. Make sure you follow her on instagram via @nnescorner.

How has being online influencer changed your life:

Well, I for one thing can say that it’s helped me find my purpose. To see that hundreds of people are inspired you, love what you do, and/or take your advice or suggestions on things is a blessing. At first, I just shared my posts thinking nothing at all of it, until I realized that people really connected with what I posted. To hear “you inspire me, you’ve really helped me, you’re so funny, I love what you do, or I love your content”, is just amazing.

I see you dabble in comedy… how did that come about and are you looking to expand on that:

Well I’ve dabbled in comedy since my highschool years, but for various reasons was inconsistent in it. My personality and who I am is really the comedy (according to what people who have told me anyway), so it’s not something that just started. However this year, I’m definitely looking to expand and be consistent. I have A LOT in store, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

How would you describe your personal style and what are some of your favorite brands:

Ahh, a classic question. I’m honestly not sure, it depends on my mood, what pieces I feel like bringing together, and most importantly what wig I decide to wear for the day. Lol. For the most part I would say that my style is eclectic, funky, and afrocentric. But really it depends, I switch up my “looks” ALOT. lol. I honestly don’t have any favorite brands. I just like what I like, and buy what I like. I’m the type of person that can shop any and every where.

Who is Nneoma? Tell us a little about yourself:

I always have no idea how to answer this question! lol. I would say Nneoma is a young happy, creative, loud, and bubbly person who loves bringing joy to others.

How has being so visible on social media impacted your dating life. How do you decide what to share and what not to share:

Well if it were up to me, I’d be sharing a lot more than what you see! lmao Hantz (my boyfriend) doesn’t like to appear much on social media accounts unless its a picture and a snap here and there. He likes to keep his personality very lowkey, and alot of things about our relationship private. I always run things by him first, and see what he says. One thing we definitely don’t hesitate to do is show eachother off though! lol. No shame there!

What are your dreams for the future:

My dreams of the future is to continue to be happy & content. To continue to live and create freely with nothing slowing me down.

We love how effortlessly you try different hair styles. What advice do you have for women who are stuck in the same hair styling rut:

Awww, thank you! 🙂 Don’t be afraid to try new things! Find inspo online, talk to your friends, and your hairstylist about it and see what they think. Life is too short for boring hair!

Explain how the Nne and Ike show came about and what is next on the horizon for the brand:

Well, Ike and I were working together doing photoshoots, etc, and at the time my brand (which I had no idea at the time that it was) was growing on tumblr and facebook. People loved my outfits, and style. So with my aspirations of being a TV personality, I thought that I needed to do more, and create videos to share my personality and love for style. Initially, the plans were for it to be my show, and then Ike jumped in an episode and we really just clicked. From there it became The Nne and Ike show. What’s next is to continue to put out great content, and see what the future has in store!
