Alexis Branch is a new face to some but she’s been in the music game paying her dues for some time. At one point earlier in her career, Branch was part of a R&B group but now is a solo act managed by producer Stevie J. Many people became acquainted with her music as they learned about her journey on VH1’s “Leave It To Stevie” spinoff. Alexis has a beautiful voice and we love that she can dance and groove at the same time. I miss the time where female R&B singers use to have songs dominate the radio waves. R&B tends to speak about emotions and love in a more passionate way. “Let Me Go” really resonates with how women are feeling in this new age of dating where it seems like it has become popular for men to lead women on about their intentions and the choice a woman has to make to stay true to her self.
We are really feeling her jams “Let You Go” and “I’m Yours” both available on iTunes all other major music platforms. With an EP newly recorded and other endeavors on her horizon we were pleased to catch up to Alexis and ask her a few questions. Check out our interview with her and the music video for “Let You Go Below.”
Who is Alexis Branch:
Alexis Branch is a Go getter! I am giggly and goofy but 100% about my business at all times. I’m the definition of persistence, if I want to accomplish something, it will be done by all means.
What is next for you as an artist:
I just finished my EP. I plan on shooting a visual for each track and releasing those while I prepare to put together my promo tour.
What artists are on repeat on your music list:
I’m a 90’s R&B soul so I have a playlist of 90’s hits to include Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, 112, Tevin Campbell, Brandy and so on. I also listen to Bruno Mars non stop!
Who/ What are your musical influences:
Aaliyah is definitely a major musical influence of mine, along with Janet Jackson. I’m a performer so I’m all about the full stage show, and music that makes you feel something.
In terms of style what are the brands you can’t live without:
As far as clothes, as long as im comfortable I can make a outfit out of anything. However, my shoe addiction is ridiculous! I love Versace, Gucci, Christian Dior all the while still loving a dope Nike dunk or Jordan lol.
Your body is crazy, tell us a little about your fitness movement:
I am a fitness enthusiast. I got into training once I saw the changes in my own body and saw how it enspired others so I decided to become a trainer as well to share my knowledge. I do strength training which involves ALOT of weights. I spend a good 1 & 1/2 to 2 hours in the gym and I absolutely love it. I feel sick if I miss a day of the gym.
Tell us something your social media followers don’t know about you:
I’m pretty much am open book. I will say I don’t say everything I would LIKE to say on social media because I know I have to refrain from reacting to certain situations and that is probably one of the hardest things I have to do.
What advice do you have to young singers just getting their feet wet in the industry that are interested in pursuing music full time:
Stay persistent and keep your day job at the same time. The music industry is a tough industry and you don’t go into it getting paid this crazy amount of money. In fact it’s the opposite, you’re paying so much money investing in yourself. So to avoid any unnecessary struggles, make sure you have income to survive the day to day responsibility of life all while trying to support your dream. There’s a lot of “no’s” but if you believe in yourself, none of that matters.
What qualities does your ideal mate have:
My ideal mate is a boss. You have to be a go getter and determined to be great at whatever it is you want to do in life because that’s the standard I set for myself. You have to bring something to the table, if not the WHOLE table lol.
Describe your ideal date:
I love surprises! I’m hard to surprise so if you can accomplish a surprise date with me then you’re a winner!
